Description: This is a scarce edition of this Hawaiian native peoples chronicle. Includes three sermons, one by Lyman Beecher on the death of Henry (Beecher is reputed to be the author of the whole book), and addresses by Joseph Harvey and Herman Daggett. These have separate title pages, although issued together. Obookiah was a Hawaiian who was brought to Connecticut as a youth, and went to the Missionary School in Cornwall, Connecticut.
Condition: Antique volume bound in three-quarter leather and marbled paper-covered boards. Gilt lettering and ruling appears on spine. Book shows light shelfwear, with most visible wear concentrated at edges. Binding is tight. Some foxing at ends of volume. Age-toned pages are clean and unmarked.

Description: This is a scarce collection of four compilations of an illustrated mid-nineteenth-century French art periodical. The plates illustrate a wide array of works from antiquity through the 18th century, European and Asian, including sculpture, metalwork, tapestry, glass and ceramic, enamel, bookbindings, etc.

Volume subtitled "troisieme annee" corresponds to the year 1863. It contains issue numbers LXII to XCVII.

Volume subtitled "cinquieme annee" corresponds to the years 1865-1866 and contains issue numbers CXXXIV to to CLVII.

Volume subtitled "sixieme annee' corresponds to the years 1866-1867 and contains issue numbers CLVIII to CLXXXI.

Volume subtitled "dixieme annee" corresponds to the years 1870-1871 and contains issue numbers CCLIV to CCLXXVII.

Each year has a separate title and an index-leaf bound in. Captions are in French, German and English. Pages of 1863 volume are printed on recto only. Volume for the 1866-1867 includes chromolithograph plates.
Condition: These antique volumes are bound in light green paper-covered boards with dark green cloth spines. Books show varying degrees of external wear, with earliest volume ("troisieme annee") showing the most extensive wear, as front board has heavily chipped and torn bottom outside corner and bent upper outside corner. Another volume shows markings to rear board. Volumes otherwise present mild shelfwear and light soiling to boards with occasional chipping and tears at extremities. First volume has cracked front hinge, remaining volumes are tightly bound. Interiors are clean and unmarked, with bright full-page engraved illustrations.
