This novel is the story of the Great Gold Robbery of 1855, a massive gold heist, which takes place on a train traveling through Victorian-era England. Notes: Bound in three-quarter leather with raised bands, marbled boards and gilt lettering to spine, this antique set is a scarce collection of the works of the French Enlightenment philosopher. The first volume contains a frontispiece portrait of Rousseau. The work is illustrated with numerous engravings. These former library volumes show external age/wear, with rubbing and wear to edges. The books are solidly bound with clean, lightly age-toned pages. Bookplates of the "St. Bernard's Seminary Library" appear on marbled front endpapers, with library pockets at the rear of volumes. This work was published by the Century Music Publishing Company and bears the copyright date of 1918 (the number 1304 appears over the number 60 just below the author's name on front cover). A beautiful illustration of the landmark site adorns the title page. Front and rear covers are detached from one another. Covers show small tears to edges. Condition/Details: Bound in full leather with raised bands and bright gilt lettering, this volume is a scarce autographed 40th anniversary limited edition of the Warren Report, signed by the 38th President of the United States and last surviving member of The President's Commission on the Assassination of President Kennedy, known unofficially as the Warren Commission. The Commission was established on November 29, 1963, by Lyndon B. Johnson to investigate the assassination of John F. Kennedy on November 22. Its 888-page final report was presented to President Johnson on September 24, 1964, and made public three days later. It concluded that Lee Harvey Oswald acted alone in the killing of Kennedy and the wounding of Texas Governor John Connally. The Commission's findings have since proven controversial and been both challenged and supported by later studies. Former President Ford has written a foreword to this edition in which he offers his final thoughts on the work of the commission. This is copy number 1991 of 2948. Laid in are a certificate of authenticity, a registration card issued by the publishing house and a photograph of President Ford at signing table.

The work is illustrated with many photographs, diagrams and reproductions of documents. The volume is in excellent condition, and is solidly bound with clean pages with gilt edges and red silk endpapers. The book measures approximately 6 1/2" x 9 1/2" and contains 608 pages. This lot includes two 1800's, large-format privately-bound volumes of sheet music. These antique volumes in half leather binding are a unique compilation of early sheet music. As was often an aristocratic custom during the 1800's, this book was created at the specific request of the owner, by a private bindery. Favorite selections were presented to the binder who created the handsome, custom volume. This compilation includes decorative title pages. Of particular note in this regard is a piece entitled "Robin Red-Breast" (with its brightly colored cover). The volumes show mild external age/wear, with rubbing and loss of one leather corner.
