Book Details: This lot includes the German-language newspaper compilation shown in the corresponding image(s). This folio volume contains issues of the illustrated Cologne daily Kolnische Zeitung from July 12 to September 30, 1943. This particular group also contains stories and articles on military campaigns in Russia and Africa, as well as by U-Boats and the Luftwaffe.

These issues reflect the deteriorating conditions in Germany, as format of newspaper has shrunk and issues are only sparsely illustrated or not illustrated.at all.

There are also a number of interesting features common to all modern periodicals but which here reflect the condition of life in a totalitarian state, as is the case with the illustrated advertisements bearing swastikas or editorials parroting official slogans.
