This auction lot includes the following group of Hemingway early printings:

- A Farewell to Arms by Ernest Hemingway - Dated 1929 by Charles Scribner's Sons - This volume is a first edition, later printing, with the disclaimer added in later printings. The volume shows wear, with rubbing to the labels on the front board and spine, and rubbing along the extremities. The boards are cracking along the internal hinges. There is a moisture indication on the half-title page through the first page of text.
- The Sun Also Rises by Ernest Hemingway - Dated 1926 by P.F. Collier & Son Corporation - Printed the same year as the first edition. This volume shows well, having been rebound in navy boards with bright gilt embossing on the spine. There is a bookplate inside of the front board.

This volume is number 530 of a limited 750 copies. This like-new volume shows very light external age/wear, and is solidly bound with clean pages. Condition/Details: Bound in patterned green cloth-covered boards, with gilt lettering to the front board and spine, this antique volume is a scarce historical survey of quilting by a Florence Peto, the second inductee into the Quilter's Hall of Fame. The work is illustrated with many photographs of quilts. The volume shows light external age/wear with a small tear in the cloth near the top edge of the spine, and is solidly bound with clean pages. The book measures approximately 6 1/4" x 9 1/4" and contains 210 pages.

Condition/Details: Bound in brown leather with raised spine bands, this antique volume is a scarce volume containing three important works on the Quakers, each with its own title page and pagination. The titles include:
- A Brief Account of the Rise and Progress of the People Called Quakers, in Which Their Fundamental Principle, Doctrines, Worship, Ministry and Discipline, Are Plainly Declared by William Penn
- The Anarchy of the Ranters, and Other Libertines; the Hierarchy of the Romanists by Robert Barclay
- An Epistle to the National Meeting of Friends in Dublin by Joseph Pike

According to the bibliographic reference by Evans, "The three treatises are sometimes found in separate issues. When collected, a list of books to be sold by Benjamin Ferriss, in Wilmington, pp. (4), is generally found added." This two page list is included in this volume, bound at the end of the volume. This historically significant volume shows moderate external age/wear, with rubbing to the extremities. The text block shows significant wear, with portions of the primary title page and lacking, and the front and rear free endpapers lacking. Some pages are torn or chipped. The text block is solidly bound, with age-toning and foxing to the pages. The volume contains occasional pen and pencil handwriting throughout, and on the endpapers. The book measures approximately 4 1/2" x 7" and contains 88, 111 and 24 pages.
