Author: Somers Clarke and R. Engelbach Publisher: Oxford University Press Printing Year: 1930 First Edition
Details/Condition: Bound in its original jade cloth boards with gilt embossing, this antique text is a scarce early Egyptology writing, subtitled "The Building Craft". The work is illustrated with many photographs and drawings of ancient architecture and related elements. Clarke authored a number of other Egyptology titles including Christian Antiquities in the Nile Valley - A Contribution Towards the Study of the Ancient Churches (1912), Ancient Egyptian Frontier Fortresses [and] El-Kāb and the Great Wall [and] El-Kāb and its Temples (1916-22), and The Temple of Dendūr (1911). He also collaborated with Engelbach on another related work entitled Ancient Egyptian Construction and Architecture (1930). Many of these books have gone through modern re-printing and remain current references in their fields. The volume shows some external age/wear concentrated at the extremities, and is solidly bound with bright pages and library markings.
