Details/Condition: Bound in modern green cloth boards with gilt embossing, this antique pair of botany texts is a scarce landmark title. The Fern Allies is listed as a supplement to The Ferns of Great Britain. Both volumes are illustrated with color plates by John E. Sowerby (listed as the proprietor of Sowerby’s English Botany). The volume shows light external age/wear, and is solidly bound with bright pages, some light scattered foxing and library markings.
